According to AI, “a Stick Chair is a rustic, vernacular style of wooden chair, historically made by farmers and amateurs using simple tools and readily available wood, characterized by a solid plank seat with legs, back sticks, and arm sticks tenoned directly into it, forming strong but unrefined furniture often seen in Welsh, Irish, and American folk traditions. These chairs are distinct from more formal types like Windsor chairs focusing on simple joinery (mortise and tenon) and robust construction for everyday use.” This seems pretty accurate to me.

Comfort is so subjective.
If you compare the comfort of these chairs to other wooden chairs, you may find them very comfortable. The hand-formed seats and curvature of the back-sticks form nicely to the body. As with most wooden chairs, a seat pad or sheepskin will soften the hard wood surfaces.
If you compare the comfort of these chairs to a BarcaLounger, you will find them very uncomfortable.
